Position Overview

We are seeking a Systems Operator to own and operate our cloud infrastructure and deployment workflows. This role blends cloud engineering, system operations, automation, and development support, with a strong emphasis on Google Cloud Platform.

You will be responsible for ensuring system reliability, performance, and security while collaborating closely with developers to deploy, maintain, and improve production systems. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who enjoys operating as well as enhancing systems, with experience in building new systems.

The position is hybrid, with on-site work required in the Lake Nona area in Central Florida. Candidates unable to travel to the office will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain cloud infrastructure primarily on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Deploy and manage applications across development, staging, and production environments.
  • Opportunity to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability; respond to incidents and outages.
  • Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot application, infrastructure, and deployment issues.
  • Automate infrastructure and operational tasks using scripting and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Manage cloud networking, permissions (IAM), and security best practices.
  • Maintain backups, disaster recovery processes, and system documentation.
  • Continuously improve system reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency.

 

Required Qualifications

 

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Run, IAM, Cloud Storage, and networking.
  • Experience administering Linux-based systems.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, Bash, Shell).
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and workflows (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Claude).
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Kubernetes).
  • Strong understanding of Git and version control workflows.
  • Experience monitoring and troubleshooting distributed systems.

Development & Integration

  • Working knowledge of backend or full-stack development concepts.
  • Experience supporting applications built with technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, Rust.
  • Understanding of REST APIs and system integrations.
  • Familiarity with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

Professional Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage operational responsibilities.
  • Clear communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt as systems and tooling evolve.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Google Cloud certifications.
  • 3+ years experience with monitoring and observability tools (Cloud Monitoring, logging, metrics).
  • 2+ years experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform).
  • Familiarity with Agile or iterative development environments.
  • Previous experience in a DevOps, Cloud Engineer, or Systems Engineering role.
