Child Nutrition – Charter Support

Position Summary

The Child Nutrition – Charter Support team member provides essential support at assigned charter school sites. This role focuses on serving meals, assisting with meal counts, and supporting the Nutrition Mobile Coordinator to ensure efficient and compliant meal service. Charter Support staff help maintain smooth daily cafeteria operations and provide high-quality service to students.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve meals to students in accordance with USDA and charter school guidelines

  • Assist with meal counts, point-of-sale (POS) transactions, and documentation

  • Support the Nutrition Mobile Coordinator with daily setup, distribution, and cleanup

  • Ensure proper portion sizes and adherence to meal pattern requirements

  • Maintain clean and organized serving and dining areas

  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards

  • Provide friendly, professional service to students, staff, and visitors

  • Assist with inventory checks, restocking, and supply organization

  • Support special events or additional service needs at the charter site

  • Report operational issues or concerns to the Nutrition Mobile Coordinator


Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Previous experience in customer service or school nutrition preferred

  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation

  • Ability to follow instructions and standard procedures

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25–40 pounds

  • Dependable and punctual


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a school or child nutrition environment

  • Familiarity with USDA school meal programs and POS systems

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team with the Nutrition Mobile Coordinator
